Yet, I think we learn from history, otherwise we wouldn't have got this far... We would repeat the very same mistakes again... In fact, some we commit again, but a lot we don't. Don't you think?
I was reading in Time magazine that this employment crisis is a lot more like the 1930's (when the farming jobs had disappeared, and people had to switch to manufacturing) than like the 80's (when the jobs came back as soon as the money did).
But, since we don't seem to be doing much to enable the switchover -- or even identify what we'll switch to -- I'd have to say Georgie B had it right.
Very curious quote. My first reaction was, "no, of course we learn from history" but shat I really meant i suppose is that we CAN learn from history, but as a species do we? No. The problem is the human heart and thus we are almost doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past, just give it time and thing go in a full circle almost.
