theme thursday "castle"...

In her castle, a queen anticipates the arrival of her king.

She hopes to recognize him.

She has never met him.

Both subtle and to the point. Rare combination.

Rent the movie "Elizabeth" to insure the memories of what one has to go through to be come a queen. Unfortunatly, royal Mates were never selected on the basis of love.

Oooooh. How clandestine! How exciting!
He would have to be a very equanimous King. One who wanted an equal partner. That's just my opinion.

Interesting, bit I think the queen should leave her castle and go about her business. her king will then come upon her in her travels.

So few words, but they say so much. You've just shown how far you can go with simplicity.

welcome to theme thursday!

i am sure the king will be along soon enough...

...though these arranged marriages can be a bit tricky...

...but then maybe this is more about the long for a king.

nicely played.
Hmmm, perhaps the best illustration for your post is not Elizabeth I, "the Virgin Queen," whose king never did show up! Or perhaps it's the perfect illustration!

Beautiful in its simplicity.

But she may yet. Perhaps that kind will be a pauper on the inside but a king's golden heart on the inside?

Where I sit, it's Flash Friday 55. You've just done three simple lines. Deconstructed, elegant and marvellous. Nice stuff, Stacey.

I like that a lot! There are quite a few ways that you could read into it. I think I got the right way!

I think she should forget about him and find a hobby.

My viewpoint is that it is seeing what she is thinking of that based on the expression on her face. This is my first visit to you blog. I connected through another blogger.

That must have been really weird to wait for the man of your destiny. Loved the view.

Elizabeth Regina could either be envied or pitied, I suppose it depends on your time. Back then she was considered the greatest Prince of England, also a great soldier, a leader in both war and peacetime. If no man could accept being anything less than "king" it's not surprising, and blame should not be assigned to men - it was difficult to accept a woman as an equal no less a leader. But she would've accepted a consort, like her present-day namesake ER2. I thought you put a very complex part of history in clean, clear terms.

the waiting and hopeful anticipation must be excrutiating...
I agree with many of others, short and sweet, but powerful. Great job.

I've seen Thursday Themes, but never joined in the fun.

I may try it.

Beautiful words Stacey...
I love the picture too!
Queen Elizabeth was a powerful woman for her time and very independent, maybe that is why she never married... No man could match her inner strength and strong character!
Thank you for visiting today. Lovely to see you!;)

We always recognize them. That what crowns them king or queen.

I wonder if old Lizzie did have a little fling with some unknown. I'd like to think the Virgin Queen scored at least one love affair! Cute post. Actually, it's scary how so many of these Royal marriages relied on a little artist's impression. I bet there were reams of disappointments on both sides!

Reminds me of Snow White... "Someday my Prince will come." I wish someday could be today.
